When the power goes out, or worse, when the fire alarm sounds — your emergency and exit lights need to work. Not sometimes. Every time. Barcam Electrical provides six-monthly emergency and exit light testing to AS 2293 across commercial, industrial and public buildings throughout the Mackay region, with the documentation and reporting your certifier and insurer will want to see.
When you might need us
Your building is due for its six-monthly emergency lighting test
You've just completed a fit-out or renovation and need commissioning testing
Your compliance program or building certifier requires documented testing
You've had lights fail during a previous test or inspection
You've never had a formal testing program set up and aren't sure where you stand
You're taking on a new tenancy and need to establish a baseline
What we do
Our team carries out the full six-monthly discharge test required under AS 2293.2 — simulating a mains failure, running the luminaires on battery for their full rated duration, and confirming that every light in the system meets the standard. We also carry out visual inspections, note any faults, and provide a full report covering:
A register of every luminaire on site
Test results for each fitting
Any failures, faults or defects identified
Recommended remedial action (battery replacement, lamp replacement, fitting replacement)
Records suitable for your logbook and building certifier
FAQs
-
The full discharge test is required every six months under AS 2293.2, with visual inspections in between.
-
We log the fault, tag it, and give you a clear recommendation on what needs replacing. Where the fix is simple (battery or lamp), we can often do it on the day.
-
Depends on your lease. Usually the building owner or manager is responsible for the base building, but tenants can be responsible for their tenancy. Worth clarifying up front so nothing falls through the gap.
-
Yes. AS 2293 requires a logbook that records testing, faults and remediation. If you don't have one, we'll set one up as part of the first test.
