Last updated: 1st May 2026
Barcam Electrical Service Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information in a clear, fair and secure way. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This Policy applies to all personal information we collect through our website at barcamelectrical.com.au, by phone, by email, in person, or through any other interaction with our business.
By using our website or providing your information to us, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

The kinds of personal information we collect
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. Generally, it may include:
Your name
Your contact details, including phone number, email address and postal or service address
The details of the work or enquiry you've contacted us about

We don't deliberately collect sensitive information (such as health or medical information) unless it's directly relevant to a service we're providing — for example, if you've told us about medical equipment that needs continuous power. Where we do collect sensitive information, we'll only do so with your consent and treat it with extra care.

We also collect some information automatically when you visit our website — see Section 7 (Cookies and analytics) below.
In some cases, we may collect personal information about you from a third party, such as a builder, real estate agent, body corporate, or referee. Where this happens, we'll handle that information in line with this Policy.
Why we collect, use and disclose personal information
We collect, use and disclose your personal information for purposes connected with running our business, including to:

Send you information about our services or news from time to time, where you've agreed to receive it (you can opt out at any time)
We won't use your personal information for purposes that would be unexpected or that aren't reasonably connected to why it was collected, unless we have your consent or are required to by law.

We may share your personal information with:
Our team members, who need it to do their jobs
Other trusted local trades, where you've asked us for a referral or where coordination is needed on a job (for example, your builder or plumber)

Anyone you've authorised us to share information with
We don't sell your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Storing and protecting your information
We store personal information in a mix of secure paper records and electronic systems. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including:
Restricting access to authorised team members only
Using password-protected systems and secure software
Securing physical records at our office
Training our team on privacy and confidentiality
Working with reputable IT and software providers
While we take privacy seriously, no method of storing or transmitting information is 100% secure. If you're concerned about how a piece of information should be sent to us, please give us a call and we'll work out the safest way.
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law (for example, tax and electrical work records have minimum retention periods). When it's no longer needed, we'll either destroy it or de-identify it.
Cookies and website analytics
When you visit our website, some information is collected automatically by your device and our website tools. This may include:
Your IP address and approximate location
The type of device, browser and operating system you're using
The pages you visit, the time spent on the site, and how you arrived at it
Information collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies
We use this information to understand how people use our website, to improve the site, and to make sure it's working properly. We may use third-party tools (such as Google Analytics) for this purpose. Those providers handle the information in line with their own privacy policies.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer. Doing so won't stop you using the site, but some features may not work as smoothly.
Direct marketing
From time to time we may send you news or information about our services — for example, seasonal reminders about smoke alarm compliance or storm-season generator checks — by email, SMS or post. We'll only do this where you've agreed to receive it, or where we're otherwise allowed to under the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Every marketing message will include a clear way to opt out, and you can also let us know at any time by phone or email if you'd prefer not to receive these communications.
Job applicants
If you apply for a job with us — whether for an advertised role or as a general expression of interest — we collect the personal information you provide to assess your application. This may include your CV, contact details, qualifications, work history, and any references you've supplied or we follow up with.
If you're not successful, we may keep your details on file for a reasonable period in case a suitable role comes up later. You can ask us to delete your details at any time by getting in touch.
Sending information overseas
Most of your personal information is stored and handled in Australia. However, some of our service providers (for example, email, cloud storage or website analytics providers) may store data on servers located overseas. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in a way that is consistent with this Policy and Australian privacy law.
Accessing and correcting your information
You have the right to ask us:
What personal information we hold about you
For a copy of that information
To correct anything that's inaccurate, out of date or incomplete
To make a request, please get in touch using the contact details at the end of this Policy. We'll respond within a reasonable time. In some cases, there may be reasons we can't provide access (for example, where doing so would impact someone else's privacy or breach a legal obligation), but we'll explain why if that's the case.
There's no fee to make a request, although for large or complex requests we may charge a reasonable cost-recovery fee, which we'll discuss with you first.
Making a complaint
If you think we've handled your personal information in a way that doesn't meet our obligations, please let us know. We take privacy concerns seriously and want the chance to put things right.
You can contact us using the details at the end of this Policy. We'll acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within a reasonable timeframe.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
