A Mackay Family Business Since 1957
Barcam Electrical Service was started back in 1957 by the Bartolo family, a husband-and-wife team with a small shopfront, a work van, and a reputation for getting the job done properly.
More than six decades on, we are still a family-run business providing the same personalised service here in Mackay. Today we have a team of 40-plus, including a number of generational staff whose parents have worked here before them.
Old-fashioned service, modern know-how
Our point of difference hasn’t changed in 70 years: we treat every customer like a neighbour, because most of them are. You’ll get the same person on the phone each time you call. You’ll get an electrician who explains what they’re doing in plain English. And you’ll get an honest quote — not a guess.
What has changed is the technology. From EV chargers to home automation, our team works with the latest electrical systems and equipment. We invest in the gear and the training so we can offer the best advice and the safest, most cost-effective solution for your home or business.
Training and safety, every day
Every member of our team, from our master electricians right through to our office staff, receives regular training. That means whoever you speak to at Barcam, you’re getting up-to-date, accurate advice.
We’re a Master Electricians Australia Gold Member, and we run our own internal quality assurance checks and safety audits to make sure every job leaves our team to the standard we’d want in our own homes.
Backing local, always.
We’re proud Mackay locals, and we back other Mackay locals. We sponsor community sporting clubs, support local schools, and maintain strong working relationships with other trusted trades around town. When our customers need a plumber, a builder or other service trade, we’re happy to point them towards those we know and trust.
Meet the team
The Barcam team is the heart of the business. From electricians who’ve been with us 30+ years to apprentices just starting out, every person here plays a part in keeping Mackay powered up.
