Home automation used to be a luxury. These days, it's a practical way to make your home easier, safer and more comfortable to live in — whether that's dimming the lounge lights from the couch, scheduling the hot water to run in off-peak, or checking you turned the driveway lights off after you've gone to bed. Barcam Electrical designs and installs smart home systems throughout Mackay, tailored to what you actually want to use.
When you might need home automation
You're renovating or building and want to design smart features in from the start
You'd like to control lights, fans or air-con from your phone or by voice
You want scheduling — lights on at dusk, hot water in off-peak, blinds down in the heat of the day
You'd like to check on the house while you're away
You want smart security features like video doorbells and smart locks
Accessibility or mobility needs mean voice or app control would make life easier
You want to integrate IoT (internet of things) and other smart applications into your home
What We Do
We install and integrate the electrical side of home automation (Cbus, DALI + Wiser etc.), including:
Smart lighting and dimming
Smart switches and power outlets
Automated blinds and curtains
Fan control
Smart hot water and off-peak scheduling
App-based control and monitoring
We don't push the biggest, flashiest system on you — we talk through how you actually live in the house, then design something practical that you'll get real use out of. And if you'd rather start small and add more later, that's easy to plan for.
FAQ
-
Not necessarily. Depending on what you want to control, we can often keep your existing fittings and add smart switches or a smart circuit at the switchboard instead. We'll walk you through the options.
-
The essentials — switches, sensors, scheduled routines — usually keep working locally even if the internet drops out. Voice control and remote app control need the internet, but the lights and power still respond as normal.
-
It doesn't have to be. A well-designed system should just work — lights come on when you walk in, the app is simple to open, and you can still flick a regular switch on the wall if you want to. We take the time to set it up properly and show you how to use it.
-
Absolutely. Home automation is easier to plan when we know where you might want to go with it, but there's no need to do everything at once. Plenty of our customers start with lighting and add more over time.
